For this week I brought together all of the testing and prototyping I have done over the previous weeks to create a second prototype for the guitar. As with my recent sketch prototypes this model is built to the scale length of a full size acoustic guitar so that the skills learned practicing on it are easily transferred to the users own instruments. The guide, which in its current form utilises both text and images for clarity, has been laser cut into the body and the related icons have been cut into the fretboard. Since this is only a prototype to test functionality the body has been entirely made from MDF, although I will be using ash and walnut for the final piece.

Going from this point to the final piece there is not much left to do except refine the icon layout a bit and put some more time and care into the final piece. I would like to look into potentially embossing the guide by filling the laser cut gaps with ink, and so I will hopefully experiment with this idea over the next week or so.
