Week 19: New forms and guide layouts

This week I created a new sketch prototype for my idea based off the thoughts I had last week. This one has been made to the scale length of a full size guitar but many elements have been stripped back or simplified to keep it strictly to its function. In addition this quick prototype will provide an idea of the amount of space I have to work with as I work on iterations for the guide.

I have also started to work on an initial idea for the layout of the guide. My current iteration uses a number of images all across the body of the instrument, each numbered in the order they should be viewed. Each icon is placed on the instrument where the relevant piece of maintenance should takes place and uses as little text as possible. My aim with this iteration was to create something similar to the Ikea step by step instructions but actually fixed product rather than coming separately. It has provided me with an interesting start to the process of creating the guide but hopefully as time goes on I will come up with more potential layouts in order to find one which fits the concept best.
