This past week I largely spent preparing for and being part of Gurus day, an event where a number of designers from industry come into the studio to assess our work and give us advice. As part of my presentation to the Gurus I had prepared a number of boards informing them of what my project is and what I have done so far and I also brought with me the prototypes I made to get feedback on them.

The Gurus were all very positive with their feedback, offering advice on what I could do next and things I could think about in the future. Most of them recommended that in order to aid my idea generation I should go out and speak to more people, specifically to guitar players and people who have purchased bespoke guitars to understand what they look for when buying a guitar. Several of them also recommended that I take prototypes with me to this interviews so that I can get feedback on each of them.
Several of the Gurus also suggested that I could potentially think broader in terms of my idea; my product could go beyond just helping the customer find their ideal tone and actually enable them to have a fuller and more rewarding role in the creation of the product. There were many other pieces of advice given to me but I will only be able to incorporate some of them into my project, and with this in mind I will need to analyse the advice carefully and decide what I should take forward.
