In order to address the concerns I have had I spent some time this week rephrasing and refining my project brief. I wanted to make my brief more informative and more open ended to so that I could come up with more ideas that were much better suited to what I wanted to do. As I needed to create a more detailed brief for the up and coming gurus day I wrote one with the rationale behind it included:

The last line is closer to what I want to do and more open than my previous draft, however at the same time I have had to give more thought to the context of how my product would be used. Ultimately I imagine that it would belong to the luthier and would be used during conversations between them and their customers so that they could sample and try out different guitar tones in order to find their ideal one. However I have also been giving thought to the idea of making it a device luthiers could send to the customers so that they can have this conversation over longer distances. Ultimately I think I will need to back up these thoughts with research and give more consideration to what I want my product to do.
